Since 1987, Kane County Board member Mike Donahue and his family have celebrated Swedish Days in Geneva with a little clambake in his back yard at 1114 South St. in Geneva they call “Dino Days.” Friends, family, music, good times and an easy walk to all of the fun events that Swedish Days offers are all components of the annual celebration.

And through the years, that little Dino Days get-together has blossomed into a big Dino Days get-together, which has segued gracefully and graciously into a fundraiser for a great cause.

At Tuesday’s Kane County Board meeting, Donahue extended an invitation to any and all to “Jam for a Cure,” from 4 p.m. to 11 pm. Saturday, June 21, at 1114 South St. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“Come on out, RAIN OR SHINE!” says the Jam for a Cure Facebook event page. “Celebrate the Summer Solstice with us in Geneva and help a great cause!”

The outdoor event will feature live entertainment under the big top, including Third Time’s a Charm, The Wild Bill Band and The Blue & Yellow Ponies.

Suggested donation at the door is $25. Food and beverages will be available, but feel free to bring your own picnic for a Ravinia-style evening.

It’s a great way to take in all fun of the granddaddy of all suburban summer festivals: Swedish Days, which runs June 17 to June 22 in downtown Geneva. See this Geneva Chamber of Commerce page for more information.

“There will be plenty of parking on the street. Come out and enjoy the beginning of summer, dance under the big top, spend time with friends, all for a GREAT CAUSE,” the Facebook page says.

“We hope to see you there!”
