Last night at the Kane County Regional Office of Education, we hosted over 100 students, parents, graduates, college recruiters, professional photographers, and local legislators to celebrate the conclusion of the Kane County Student Photography Initiative. As attendees perused over 100 pieces of artwork from 10 high schools, we were serenaded by a string-trio playing holiday music while enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Geneva Culinary Club. Congratulations to the students that were featured and thank you to everyone that has been involved to highlight the arts in Kane County.

Kane County Student Photo Contest: Week 1 Winner’s Scope Is Cosmic

Kane County students are doing amazing work. And Kane County teachers are making that work possible, every day of the school year.

To celebrate some of that student talent, the Kane County Regional Office of Education, along with the Kane County Connects community outreach initiative, is sponsoring a weekly photo contest. You can read more about the Kane County High School photo contest by clicking this link, but to enter, all you have to do is contact the photography instructors at your high school. The teachers will submit the photos to Ellen Kamps at the ROE’s office by 3 p.m. each Monday, and we’ll do our best to publish the winning entries on Wednesday.

We’ll also ask our media partners to publish the winning entry, so that student talent is recognized and celebrated throughout our communities.

At the end of the fall semester, we’ll judge the best of the best and announce the winners. For questions about the contest, contact Ellen at 630-675-4446 or ekamps@kaneroe.org.

Congratulations to Alec Hickman of St. Charles East High School, whose “30 Seconds of Stars” is our inaugural winner. His photo is the featured image in this article.
