All Forest Preserves to Reopen at Sunrise Thursday, Jan. 8

All Kane County forest preserves will be closed to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 7, due to severe weather conditions.

But they will reopen at sunrise Thursday, Jan. 8, according to the Forest Preserve District Facebook page.

The closures were to protect the safety and health of employees and the public, during well-below freezing temperatures and forecasted 30-below wind-chill factors.

District headquarters were open regular hours: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. All employees are expected to report to work as scheduled.

Forest preserves are expected to reopen to the public at sunrise on Thursday, Jan. 8.
