IDOT: Route 34 in Aurora to Close Friday-Monday for Rail-Crossing Repairs
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that U.S. Route 34 (Ogden Avenue) will be closed at the Canadian National Railroad crossing in Aurora for railroad crossing repairs beginning, weather permitting, at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 15.
In order to complete the work, the detour will be posted to direct traffic through the area. Eastbound U.S. 34 traffic will proceed north on Eola Road, to east on New York Street, to south on Illinois Route 59 and back to U.S. 34. Westbound traffic will proceed in the opposite directions along the same roads.
The project will be complete by 6 p.m. on Monday, May 18.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
