“It is with tremendous joy that we would like to tell you … All 17,000 of you …

“That Emily is officially HOME!!!!”

So begins a post that happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015, on the Help Find Emily Czajkowski Facebook page.

The Facebook post provides only a few details, only that the 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing since Wednesday, July 22,” is home, she is safe, and she is with her family that loves her more than words can say.”

The St. Charles Police Department press release adds more detail.

Emily was located safe and sound by St. Charles Police at around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at a friend’s home in St. Charles.

The friend was also a juvenile, and the mother of Emily’s friend contacted police after discovering Emily was inside the home with her son.

“Emily has been reunited with her parents. Upon verifying her well-being and determining that Emily was not the victim of any criminal acts, the Police Department now considers this incident to be a private, family matter,” the press release says.

“The St. Charles Police Department would like to thank all of the law enforcement agencies that assisted in the search efforts for Emily, including the Geneva and Batavia Police Departments, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals Service. We would also like to thank the scores of citizen volunteers who coordinated our community outreach efforts, as well as posted flyers and ribbons throughout St. Charles in an effort to locate Emily.”

Twelve hours before Emily was found, her parents posted on Facebook, thanking the community for the love and support.

“What you all are doing for Emily is amazing. We truly appreciate it more than we could ever express. Thank you to the St Charles Police Department and all the other law enforcement involved in this,” they said. “You guys are amazing, and we could never repay you for all you are doing.”
