Bridge Over Fox River in Montgomery Will Close for Rehab
The village of Montgomery has announced that MYS, Incorporated will begin bridge rehabilitation services on the Mill Street Bridge over the Fox River, starting Aug. 20.
The work is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 16 and generally will consist of bridge deck repairs and bridge painting. The project will include bridge deck scarification, bridge deck latex concrete overlay, structural repair of concrete and concrete coating.
During this time, Mill Street will be closed from River Street to IL Route 25, and all traffic will be required to follow the posted detour route. Traffic will be detoured via the Ashland Avenue Bridge to the north.
The village is asking motorists for their cooperation and patience and to exercise additional caution when in the vicinity of the construction area.
As part of the repair work, flowers will be removed from the bridge and will be available for residents’ pickup and replanting.
The Beautification Committee will be giving away the petunias from the flower boxes to those who sponsored the flower box program this year and to the general public on Aug. 15. Flower box program participants will be contacted regarding a time for them to pick up flowers. The general public may pick up any flowers that are left over from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 15 in front of the Village Hall at 200 N. River Street.
Flowers will be provided in dirt ball only and people will need to bring their own containers or bags to transport them.
Flowers will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.
