No. 8: Nine Kane Schools Rank in Top 100 Private High Schools in Chicago Area
This story might have been so well read because it touches on a topic that sometimes gets short shrift: the quality of local private schools.
The fact is, public schools generally capture most of the headlines. That’s no surprise for so many reasons: Public schools take up by far the biggest chunk of residents’ property tax dollars, they provide loads of state report card data, hold public meetings and host the vast majority of students in Kane County.
So, when a story comes along about private schools, people who are interested in private schools pay attention. On Kane County Connects, this article had 4,592 page views.
In August 2015, nine Kane County Schools made the annual Niche list of 100 best in the Chicago area. At the top of the Kane County list was Elgin Academy, which was 12th in the Chicago metro area.
The Niche website also allows you to sort by national rankings, state rankings, best all-girl or all-boy high schools, best charter schools, best magnate schools and more. You can click here to see how these rankings are calculated.
Public school rankings for 2015 were recently released by Niche. (See the “Read More” links below for those articles.) The private school rankings were last updated in August.
Our August article included the list of top rated private schools in the Chicago area. For this article, we’ve added the state rankings, as well. As you can see, seven Kane County private schools were among the top 100 in Illinois.
