POW: Doris Really Is America’s Sweetheart
- KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control.
The song “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)” was recorded by America’s sweetheart Doris Day in 1956, but the sentiment is so fitting for Kane County Animal Control’s own sweetheart, also named Doris.
A 3-year-old brown and white pit bull, who at first glance looks like her socks need to be pulled up, Doris is just a girl who loves to play and spend time with her BFF’s at the shelter. Possessing a laid-back personality, her expression always seems to say, “I would like to meet you.”
She is content to spend much of her time just “chillin” and getting as many hugs and pets as possible. But don’t underestimate her liveliness level! Her excitement definitely jumps when she sees a leash and knows she’s going for a long walk with her best friend.
Doris does well with other dogs. She might require a bit of training to help with her manners and her enthusiasm when she is on a leash, but she is smart and trainable and good-natured.
A line from the song “Que Sera, Sera” says, “The future’s not ours to see,” but we at KCAC definitely see a forever home and a bright future for Doris.
