County Clerk Strongly Recommends Voting Early in November Election

Kane County Clerk Jack Cunningham told Kane County Public Service Committee members Thursday (Aug. 18, 2016) that he strongly recommends citizens vote early in the November presidential election.

“I hope you’ll all get out and spread the word, because this is important to all our constituents,” he said to Kane County Board members.

John A. Jack CunninghamPrior to the meeting, Cunningham handed out hard copies of the Kane County Early Voting sites poster. A PDF version is available online, as well.

Early voting allows voters to cast a full ballot before the observed election day.

Although voters can still go to their polling place on Election Day, early voting is intended to make voting easier for everyone, Cunningham said.

“It cuts down on lines at the polling place as well as allowing voters to vote when it fits their schedule,” he said.

The period for early voting by personal appearance begins on the 40th day preceding an election. For the County CLerk's Office BUilding mugpresidential election coming up on Nov. 8, early voting will be available at the Kane County Clerk’s Office, starting start on Sept. 29, 2016, and extending through the end of the day on Nov. 7, the day before Election Day.

The Kane County Clerk’s Office is located in Building B of the Kane County Government Center campus at 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays.

Additional Early Voting Locations, Starting Oct. 24

Early voting will be available at multiple locations throughout Kane County beginning on the 15th day preceding the election, in this case Oct. 24, 2016, and extending through the end of day Nov. 7.

You may go to any one of these locations to vote early. It’s important to note that early voting is NOT conducted at your usual polling place. Kane County’s full contingent of olling places will only be open for voting on the observed Election Day.

Cunningham is asking voters to visit the elections homepage on the Clerk’s Office website and PDF poster to find the polling location nearest to you as well as the hours of operation.
