• KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control.

No one can dispute the special bond between siblings, especially sisters and especially twin sisters!

That is definitely the case with Daisy and Minnie, Kane County Animal Control’s 15-week-old, boxer/pit bull mixes that arrived with their brother, Mickey.

All three of these young pups were found in Sugar Grove abandoned and alone, forced to fend for themselves. The girls along with their brother were ultimately brought to KCAC’s facility by a Good Samaritan.

Timid and afraid in the beginning, they have slowly begun to trust humans again. They both are extremely playful and love to run and play with each other. So far, the only difficulty these youngsters seem to have is learning to walk on a leash, but over time and with enough positive training, the kennel staffers believe Doris and Minnie will begin to feel comfortable walking alongside their forever family.

Typical puppies in every sense of the word, these sweet girls share the same kennel at KCAC. Even during their exercise time in the KCAC play yard, as they are watched by a staff member, they ultimately begin to entertain themselves by jumping, running and rolling around on top of each other.

At the end of the day, as the sisters cuddle with each other in their kennel and fall asleep, we’re sure they are dreaming perhaps of the day when they can each snuggle up to members of their new family.

It would be wonderful if these sisters could be adopted together, but barring that possibility, either of these young pups would make a perfect addition to any loving family. Do you have enough love to give?

  It didn’t take very long for the perfect family to adopt Madeline, the Jack Russell puppy KCAC had up for adoption last week. Congratulations, Madeline! We’re so happy for you! We hope you’re letting your new family get some sleep!

• Phelps, one of Madeline’s brothers, also found his forever home last week. Congratulations, Phelps! Your new family is definitely a true Olympic winner!
• Olive, the female guinea pig, moved into her new adoptive family’s home last week, as well. Congratulations, Olive!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinem including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm. The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and you can adopt two cats for $150!

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
