Early Voting Under Way for the April 4 Consolidated Election!

Early Voting Under Way for the April 4 Consolidated Election!

You can’t “vote often,” but starting today (Friday, March 10, 2017) you can vote early in the April 4 consolidated election.

This is the hyper-local elections, with nine referendums and a number of municipal, township, school district and other local races on the ballot. So it’s time for good citizens to get your electoral game-face on and do your civic duty.

The early voting that starts today is ONLY at three locations: the Kane County Clerk’s Office in Building B of the Kane County Government Center in Geneva, the Aurora Election Commission Office at 323 West Galena Boulevard, Aurora, and Phillips Park Stover Visitor Center, 1000 Ray Moses Drive, Aurora.

The AEC is the body responsible for elections within the Kane, Kendall and Will county portions of Aurora. Aurora residents living within DuPage County are not under the jurisdiction of the AEC and must register and vote with DuPage County. (Clear as mud, right?)

All other voters in Kane County are served by the Kane County Clerk’s Office.

Early voting at the three locations mentioned above is open during regular business hours — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in Aurora, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in Geneva. There are some weekend early-voting opportunities coming up, as well. To find out more, visit these webpages:

After March 20, early voting is offered at a variety of locations throughout Kane County and within the city of Aurora. See the PDF below or click on this link to see the early voting times and locations in Kane County outside the city of Aurora.

Vote By Mail remain in place. Voters can still cast a Vote By Mail ballot as required under law.

For more information about early voting or the voting location, contact the Aurora Election Commission at 630-897-4030.

For information about early voting outside the Aurora Election Commission jurisdiction limits in the counties of DuPage, Kendall or Will. Please follow the links below to their respective websites. (Again: Aurora residents living within DuPage County are not under the jurisdiction of this commission. DuPage residents must register and vote with DuPage County)

Early voting allows voters to cast a full ballot before the observed election day.

Although voters can still go to their polling place on Election Day, this is intended to make voting easier for everyone. This cuts down on lines at the polling place as well as allowing voters to vote when it fits their schedule.

The period for early voting by personal appearance begins on the 40th day preceding an election, on March 10, 2017, ONLY at THE KANE COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE, and extends through the end of the day before election day.

Early voting at early permanent polling places and other early voting locations, begins on the 15th day preceding an election, on March 20, 2017, and extends through the end of day before election day. You may go to any one of these locations to vote early. Early voting is NOT conducted at your usual polling place. Polling places will only be open for voting on the observed Election Day.
