Aurora, Elgin Ranked Among Most Diverse Cities in America

Aurora ranks as the sixth most-diverse big city and Elgin ranks as the 27th most-diverse city in America, according to WalletHub’s analysis.

According to WalletHub, America is undergoing an extreme makeover, thanks to rapid demographic diversification, and Kane County communities are leading the way.

“By 2050, you won’t even recognize her. But America’s transformation is more than skin-deep — it’s economic, too,” the online credit adviser. “Not only have waves of immigration changed the face of the nation, they’ve also ushered in fresh perspectives, skills and technologies to help the U.S. develop a strong adaptability to change.”

Based on Census data, the report attempts to measure socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household and religious diversity. Click this link to learn more about the methodology.

Aurora was 11th overall in socioeconomic diversity, which measures the “healthiest balance” of income and educational attainment. Elgin is 88th in that category.

Both cities also ranked high in cultural diversity and religious diversity. Elgin was 63rd overall in cultural diversity and 101st in religious diversity. Aurora was 49th in cultural diversity and 27th in religious diversity.
