Algonquin’s ‘Art on the Fox’ Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary on Father’s Day Weekend
The Village of Algonquin and the Algonquin Public Arts Commission will host the 10th Annual “Art on the Fox” fine art show on Fathers’ Day Weekend, Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18, 2017.
Art on the Fox is produced by JMF Events and sponsored in part this year by several lead sponsors including Algonquin Square Apartment Homes and E.J. Plesko and Associates, Riverside Plaza and Pinnacle Living, Algonquin Commons, and Chiro One Wellness Centers.
“We have been blessed by the strong response our community provides in support of the arts,” said Village President John Schmitt. “Every year, new sponsors step up and provide more opportunities to promote art in Algonquin.”
Art on the Fox is free and open to the public, and artists will have artwork for sale in a variety of media, including sculpture, painting, photography, jewelry, and glass.
Returning artists include award-winning favorites like Kathy Hardesty and Michael Mann. Art on the Fox will also feature the Picasso Zone, a children’s art area with free projects and demonstrations, a Student Art Exhibit and poetry readings by literary students from McHenry County College, and folk music performed by local residents including Phil Munton, Mary Lai, and Merv Collins.
New this year is a “Sailboats of Art on the Fox” contest, with over 60 painted ceramic sailboats to be displayed and voted on during the event weekend.
Algonquin’s Art on the Fox will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, and will once again be held in Riverfront Park, which overlooks the scenic Fox River in the heart of the community’s historic downtown. Riverfront Park is located on North Harrison Street, just one block north of Algonquin Road (IL Route 62).
