Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission Superintendent Jacob Zimmerman announced this week the list of 33 resource vendors and four high-powered employers that will take part in the upcoming Veteran Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday (Aug. 18, 2017) at the Prisco Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora.

Amazon, Grunt Style, Plano Synergy and Smithfield Foods are among the biggest employers of the area and will be looking for veterans to hire.

Following the Resource Fair, Hines VA Hospital will hold a Town Hall meeting from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. to inform local veterans about their benefits and the services available at its main campus near Maywood, as well as its clinic located at 161 S. Lincolnway in North Aurora.

“Be sure to stick around for the Hines VA Town Hall meeting with Hospital Director Steve Braverman immediately following the Veteran Resource Fair,” Zimmerman said. “Please share this (news) widely!”

The resource fair is a way for Kane County veterans to connect with the agencies that provide services. For example, eligible veterans will have the opportunity to enroll in VA health care and obtain the veteran designation on their Illinois driver’s license.
