There are small dogs with big personalities, and there are big dogs that are afraid of their own shadow.

Sparky, KCAC’s 7-year-old black Pomeranian definitely has a large-dog personality. Found as a stray in North Aurora, Sparky is a small but energetic little boy that enjoys as much attention as he can get from people. He may be small enough for a lap or purse, but don’t call him “wimpy” or “fu-fu.”

He seems to like other dogs, but doesn’t go out of his way to interact with them. He’s really not into toys or mundane canine things like chews or rawhides. He much prefers strutting his stuff about town on his harness and bragging to all he meets that his breed was once owned by Queen Victoria.

Once he’s had his fill of feeling healthy, wrap him up in a blanket and spend the next few hours settling down on a cold autumn night to catch up on the latest episodes of Game of Thrones.

We hope Sparky is just a heartbeat away from finding his perfect forever family.

Paco

Congratulations to Paco, our little Papillion, who found his forever home.

Congratulations are also in order for Theo and Timmy, two kitten brothers adopted together.

Henry

Henry, a black and brown striped 4-month-old domestic shorthair kitten, traveled out the front door with his new family. Congratulations, Henry! 

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The usual adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
