Circuit Clerk’s Office Suspends Wednesday Evening Hours

Effective Dec. 1, 2017, Wednesday evening hours for the Kane County Circuit Clerk’s office will be suspended.

The Circuit Clerk’s Office hours will now be weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for closings on court recognized holidays.

Since May of 2005 the Circuit Clerk’s Office had maintained evening hours on Wednesday until 7 p.m. As part of the case management system overhaul of the Kane County judicial system, many of the services which might have forced residents to drive to the offices are now or soon will be available online.

“Now that we provide so many services online, it is no longer necessary to maintain evening hours,” Circuit Clerk Tom Hartwell said Monday. “Staff who would normally work those evening hours can be deployed to better meet our daytime workloads both in the office and the courtrooms.”

The Kane County Circuit Clerk’s office and the 16th Judicial Circuit Court process more than 25,000 case files each month, and the Circuit Clerk’s Office handles 6,000 phone inquiries per month from citizens, court officials and attorneys.

The office of Kane County Circuit Clerk is located in the Kane Branch Court building at 540 S. Randall Rd, St. Charles, just north of Route 38.
