She lumbers down the hallway looking for anyone who might be willing to pet her or, better yet, as she ignores her own bowl of food, who might be kind enough to share their lunch with her. When she finds her mark, she slowly pushes her head onto their lap and looks into their eyes.

No one who has a soul could possibly ignore such a subtle plea for attention, for this is Snowball, KCAC’s 3-year-old Great Pyrenees.

Majestic in every way, while exuding an aloofness, Snowball is extremely social, making sure everyone in the immediate perimeter has had a chance to pet her.

She enjoys taking short walks and then taking a break from all the calmness and settling down in the middle of the floor for a small snooze. But don’t underestimate her!

She is a Great Pyrenees after all, and inherent in the breed’s DNA is the trait of a loyal guardian. Toys don’t impress her, because she’d much rather spend time with her new family.

It may take time for her to get along with sharing her space with another canine, so she will need a family willing to practice the art of patience.

Howie

Congratulations to Howie, a white and brown 6-month-old male kitten who found his forever home just in time for the holidays. Make sure you climb the Christmas tree, Howie! Enjoy!

A huge congratulations to our girl Flower, who finally found her forever home! We wish you all the best little girl. You’re definitely on the fast track to a happy life!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
