Oh, to understand the nature of a cat!

Those mysterious four-pawed little creatures are almost ethereal in nature as they stare at objects humans swear aren’t there or stand on their back legs to swat at things only they seemingly can see. It’s almost as though cats have two paws in our world and two firmly planted in some nether world.

We invite these furry creatures into our homes, where they just might pay back our love and devotion with purrs, cuddles and an occasional head bump or two, or completely ignore us as they exist within their own catisphere.

Luckily, Hopper, a brown and white 1-year-old domestic shorthair that was owner surrendered, has no hesitation whatsoever greeting each and every person who comes in the cat room. Surrendered along with his brother, Howie, Hopper makes it known he’s up for adoption and is willing to pull the car up immediately so he and his new family can begin their life together.

Outgoing and very sweet, Hopper sits at the cat window and waits for his forever family to walk in the door. Are you the one?

We want to announce that our boy, Bert, was finally adopted to a wonderful home where he can enjoy the upcoming holidays in style and live out his days getting spoiled and loved. Congratulations, Bert! You deserve nothing but the best!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The usual adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
