She has the sweetest, most kitten-like face you will ever see on a small adult feline as she stares at you with an innocent look that draws you into her realm.

Her name is Sammie and she is an absolutely beautiful Calico cat! An owner-surrender that just turned 15 while a resident at KCAC, she loves as much attention as she can possibly get. Her name fits her because it denotes a lack of formality and an openness while still maintaining the gracefulness of the feline. Calling her Samantha would give her a signature larger than she is and expectations she might not care to meet.

Tiny and shy, it might take a little while for her to warm up to someone, but once she feels she’s among friends, she’ll have no trouble resting in their lap for the rest of the evening while she enjoys the security of once again having a family.

KCAC Update

Congratulations to Hopper, the cat most likely to join a successful PR firm in Chicago. Mr. Social found his forever home last week, and we at KCAC are so happy for him! He’ll be blogging before the New Year!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
