He wiggles his posterior as he runs down the hallway toward you, lips curled into a sweet puppy smile, a joyful look on his face.

Everything about his physicality shows that he is not only a 6-month-old brindle pit bull, but also extremely happy that there are people he can run to who will pet him, give him a massage and so many hugs.

He’s come to expect it now as he grabs his favorite stuffed toy out of the toy box and takes it to each person, showing off his pearly whites as he scurries around the office.

Having enough love and care wasn’t always the case for this little guy, named Cane by KCAC staff. He was found running with two large German shepherd puppies the night before Thanksgiving.

Although he certainly doesn’t appear to be any worse for wear, he’s still a little shy around other dogs until he gets to know them. Cane will definitely need some training and dog socialization once he’s with his new forever family, but he appears excited to learn.

Congratulations to Cuddles, a brown and white male rabbit found as a stray. Cuddles’ new family took him to his forever home this past week. This active little guy loves to spend playtime out of his cage and enjoys getting lots of … wait for it … cuddles! We’re so happy for you, big guy!

The welcome wagon definitely is heading in the direction of kitten Egg’s new home. Word has it from his new dad that he spends his day running from one room to the next! Congratulations, Egg!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
