Did you make your New Year’s resolutions for 2018? Was one of them to exercise more and eat a little healthier? Kale, anyone?

Experts say that for any resolution to last through the year and beyond, it takes a support system, such as family or friends, giving encouragement, especially when the going gets tough.

Ronnie

Ronnie, KCAC’s 8-year-old Chihuahua, wasn’t looking forward to giving up his daily dose of people food for a regimen of dog food and exercise, but he’s such a happy little guy, he’s begun to adapt to his new routine like a real champ.

An owner surrender, Ronnie came to us a little overweight, but everyone at KCAC is fully behind his transformation. His age hasn’t slowed him down at all when it comes to actively playing with his toys or taking a walk. Whether it’s throwing a ball down the hallway or running for brief periods through the snow, Ronnie is up to the challenge.

He also gives great cuddles and loves getting petted even more. He enjoys having other dogs around, but he minds his own business and isn’t one to push himself on other dogs.

Ronnie’s new forever family will need to continue his weight-loss program so he can be around for many, many more New Year’s to come. We’re with you all the way, Ronnie!

KCAC Update

Kylo

Congratulations are in order for Kylo, the handsome dark knight cat with the emerald green eyes. His forever family adopted him and brought him into the light where he’s probably talking their ears off as we speak. Live your destiny, Kylo!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
