Welcome to 2018 and all the hope and change it brings with it!

Loki

As temperatures barely reach zero and wind chills show minus digits day after day, it seems as though Mother Nature wants all of us to work a little harder in order to appreciate the warmer months.

And, perhaps, to spend some quality time indoors with a sweet black and white male feline named after the Norse god of mischief. His name is Loki and true to his namesake, he is a little mischief-maker and jokester.

Still a kitten, even at 1-year-old, he works at wearing himself out by running, hiding and chasing cat toys. As he plays, he keeps up a running account of his movements by talking to anyone who might show an interest.

In fact, talking is his favorite thing to do. Keeping secrets isn’t really his thing, but he might be persuaded to come up with a joke or two.

Even if you’re not into Norse mythology, Loki will make a wonderful addition to any family looking to add a cat with an entertaining nature to the mix.

Congratulations to Iris, the 1-year-old female German shepherd that found her forever family right before the New Year! Here’s to all the new acquaintances you will meet and the wonderful life you deserve!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
