Authorities ID Man Killed in Single-Car Crash on Diehl; Pedestrian Killed on Ogden Avenue
Authorities have identified the man who died after a single-car crash Thursday, March 29, on Diehl Road as Christian J. Huerta, 23, of the 1100 block of Pearl St., Aurora.
According to news releases from the Aurora Police Department and Kane County Coroner’s Office, the 6:25 p.m. crash occurred on Diehl Road near Molitor Road.
Huerta was driving his 2007 Infinity G35 westbound on Diehl apparently at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of the car and struck a fiber optics box, then a tree on the north side of Diehl.
The force of the collision made the car catch fire. Aurora -IL Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire and extricated Huerta, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The positive identification came Monday when the Kane County Coroner’s Office autopsied Huerta’s body, which was badly burned as a result of the crash. The preliminary cause of death was listed as “multiple injuries secondary to the motor vehicle mishap.” Toxicology samples were sent out to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
The Aurora Police Traffic Division is continuing the investigation into the incident.

Police ID Pedestrian Killed on Ogden Avenue in Aurora
Aurora police have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred over the weekend on Ogden Avenue (IL Route 34) and Long Grove Drive.
Lorenzo I. Bryant, 37, of the 1000 block of Pheasant Run Lane, Aurora, was positively identified Monday (April 2, 2018) by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.
Bryant was struck by a westbound vehicle being driven by a 19-year-old Aurora man around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, March 31, when Bryant was on foot at the intersection. He was discovered in the roadway unconscious and not breathing by responding officers and was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no outward signs of alcohol or drug use at the scene. No tickets have been issued pending further investigation by the Aurora Police Traffic Division.
