When you first meet Sage, KCAC’s 1-and-a-half-year-old Siberian husky that was owner-surrendered, it’s the mischievous glint in her eye that gives her away immediately.
Sage
She isn’t going to greet you with the sedate posture of a dog that waits for you to make the first moves to love her. She’s going to make sure that you know everything about her from the very beginning. What you see is what you get, so to speak.
And what you get is a sweet young girl that loves to play and run. Her high energy can seem daunting at times, so it’s important that her new family is willing to take as much time as is needed to train her.
And don’t think for a moment that Sage is OK with being ignored, even for a little while. Her mournful cries bounce off the walls of her cage every morning as she implores the staff to “come see me.”
Once she’s got your attention, the glint comes back into her eye as she pulls a volunteer across the great plains of Geneva on their way to a great adventure.
Sage sees other dogs as prospective playmates to share in her world, so it’s important that any potential canine housemate is able to handle having an energetic puppy in the house.

Duchess
Duchess, and her kittens Jerry, Peanut and Butter were all adopted and went to their individual forever homes. Congratulations to all!
Lily
Congratulations to Lily, one of the longest feline residents of the KCAC cat room. It took more than 100 days, but her forever family finally arrived.
It seems her many conversations with the cat room visitors paid off. We are so happy for you!
How to Adopt
All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.
The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control
It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:
Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.- Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
- Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
- Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
- Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
