When Peluchin, a 4-year-old miniature poodle-mix, arrived at Kane County Animal Control, he wasn’t in the best of shape due to living the life of a stray.
It didn’t take long, however, for him to perk up, thanks to the care he received from the KCAC shelter staff and veterinarian. As his physicality began to mend, so did his true spirit, and now he has become the sweetest, most mellow little fellow who is passionate about finding his forever home.
He has the perfect personality for almost any home environment. He gets along great with other dogs, and when they get into his business, he merely walks away. His true focus, of course, is the company of people.
Attention hog that he is, he is willing to hang close to whomever wants to spend time with him. Take him for walks, rub his tummy, let him run around your fenced-in yard and he will spend the evening snuggled next to his favorite person, tired but happy because he is home, he is loved, he is wanted.
KCAC Pupdates
Congratulations to Rakki, the 8-year-old Schnauzer-mix, whose second chance at a new home walked in KCAC’s door and left with him all in the same day. Rakki must have known because he couldn’t wait to jump into the car and play back-seat driver! Good boy, Rakki!
How to Adopt
All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.
The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control
It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:
Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.- Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
- Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
- Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
- Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
