POW! You’ll Never Forget Shadow, Or His Smile

He’s not a dog that you can easily forget once you meet him for the first time.
At a little more than 49 pounds, he’s not necessarily large for his breed, but his mere presence in a room fills the space with his attention-getting personality. He knows he’s special and he just wants to make sure everyone around him knows it, too.
His name is Shadow and there’s no mistaking that he’s Pit Bull Terrier. With a large head and ears that go every which way but up, Shadow was surrendered to KCAC in the 10th year of his life.
Though he may be a little white around the muzzle, that doesn’t mean he’s run out of love to give. Age hasn’t slowed his need for lots of cuddling and hugs, and maybe, he can return the favor with a sloppy kiss or two.
As most people know, as we age, we can become a bit stubborn in our ways, or “crotchety”, as some would say. The same holds true for dogs, as well. Shadow has a bit of minor food aggression, so the KCAC shelter staff is strongly suggesting his next household not have any children.
Shadow will need a family that understands his need for space while he is eating, but is more than willing to resume his cuddly nature when he is finished.
He also is not willing to share his new home with a cat or any other small animal, so it is recommended that his adoptive family make him their only pet.
If you’re looking for a sweet, cuddly older pit bull with a goofy grin to bring a smile to your lips and a song in your heart, then come and meet Shadow! You’ll never forget him!
How to Adopt
All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.
The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control
It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:
Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.- Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
- Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
- Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
- Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
