Kane County Clerk’s Aurora Satellite Office Opens Monday, Aug. 13

The new Kane County Clerk’s Office at 5 E. Downer Place in downtown Aurora will open Monday, Aug 13.
The office will be located in Suite F, on Stolp Island in downtown Aurora, under the city of Aurora’s parking garage and next to the historic GAR building and Fox River.

According to the Kane County Clerk’s Office, Aurora office hours will be the same as the main office: from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday
Kane County Clerk John A. Cunningham said he’s excited about the new office in Aurora.
“I have been planning to open an Aurora office for years, and we were finally able to get all the parties together to make this work,” he said in a recent news release. “Residents of Aurora and surrounding areas will be able to come to the new office to pick up copies of birth, death, and marriage records, apply for passports, and for the other functions of the Clerk’s Office, without driving to Geneva.”

In 2019, Aurora residents in DuPage County will be served by the DuPage County Clerk’s Office, as Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law a measure allowing the dissolution of the DuPage Election Commission. More than 53 percent of voters approved an advisory referendum in March.
The Kane County Clerk’s Office assumed responsibility for election administration and voter registration for residents living in the Kane County portion of the City of Aurora following the termination of the Aurora Election Commission.
Aurora residents are encouraged to stop into the new office not only to take advantage of the services provided by the Kane County Clerk’s Office but also to become familiar with the eSlate voting machines that will be used in elections beginning this fall. Cunningham thanked members of his staff and the city of Aurora for making the transition smooth.
“From the beginning, this has been a collaborative process requiring the cooperation of many elected officials and staff,” he said. “We put together a good plan and a great team, and we are now seeing the results of all the hard work.”
The grand opening of the office will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, with representatives from Kane County and the city of Aurora on hand to celebrate the event.
Services offered at the Aurora branch office will include:
- Passports Applications accepted for passport book and card; photos taken for a $15 fee.
- Vital records: Certified copies of birth/death/marriage/civil union records; assumed name certificates.
- Marriage/civil union licenses: Apply for and pick up a copy of a marriage/civil union license.
- Property tax services: Delinquent tax redemption; property tax searches; mobile home tax redemption.
- Elections: Voter registration; address and name changes; early voting location.
