UPDATE: New Traffic Signals Not Ready Yet at Huntley, Galligan Road Intersection
New traffic signals aren’t up and running just yet at the intersection of Huntley Road and Galligan Road in unincorporated Gilberts, as previously posted in a Kane County Division of Transportation news release.
The signals were supposed to be operational starting Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2018), but due to last-minute delays in procuring materials for the remaining traffic signal components, the signals will not be activated until late December or early January, officials said.
Once the remaining equipment is delivered and installed, the signals will be tested and operational. Additional public notice will be provided in advance of the completion of the traffic signal work.
There is minor punch list work remaining that may require temporary daily single lane closures during the remaining construction period. In those cases, work hours will be from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
According to a previous news release from the Kane County Division of Transportation, crews have added left- and right-turn lanes on Galligan Road, a right-turn lane for eastbound Huntley Road, and a left-turn lane for westbound Huntley Road.
“This traffic pattern is the final traffic configuration for the intersection,” KDOT officials said.
During construction periods, motorist should be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and watch for construction workers and construction vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
