Trash Pickup Delayed Due To Monday Blizzard

Trash Pickup Delayed Due To Monday Blizzard

Garbage collection schedules for many residents of Kane County will change this week due to Sunday and Monday’s blizzard.

If you’re not sure which company does your garbage pickup and recycling, check out this link from the Kane County Recycles website. You can also find information on your community’s website, and you can find those links on this Kane County web page.

Here’s what we know regarding garbage pickup, as of Monday:

Batavia and Mill Creek, which are served by Advanced Disposal, will not see any trash and recycling routes today (Monday, Nov. 26, 2018) and will go to a holiday schedule for the balance of the week. That means trash and recycling pickup routes will be running one day behind the regular schedule, all week.

Flood Brothers Disposal also has cancelled suburban residential pickup today and pushed it back by one day. Residents scheduled for Monday pickups in the village of Lake in the Hills and Pingree Grove and all unincorporated stops in Kane County will see delays until tomorrow.

Pickup for Flood Brothers’ commercial accounts will still be attempted today (Monday), but some clients may see delays, depending on the weather.

Lakeshore Recycling, which serves the cities of Geneva and St. Charles, the villages of Elburn, Sugar Grove and Montgomery as well as Virgil and Plato townships, also announced that it would shut down hauling services today (Monday) and delay services to the following day.

It was not clear as of 10 a.m. Monday whether that would affect the pickup schedule for the balance of the week. However, the city of St. Charles said, weather permitting, refuse pickup will begin Tuesday for the east side of the river and continue Wednesday on the west side of the river.

The storm will delay collection for apartment complexes and city buildings for the entire week, continuing into Saturday.

Groot, which serves Algonquin, Aurora, Big Rock, Burlington, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin, West Dundee and Elgin Township, hasn’t posted a formal announcement as of 11 a.m.

However, the city of Aurora has announced delays are in place for garbage collection. All trash collection has been cancelled today (Monday), and the collection schedule will be delayed by one day for the balance of the week.

Waste Management, which serves Elgin, Hampshire, Kaneville, Maple Park, North Aurora, Sun City/Del Webb and Campton Township, hasn’t made an overall announcement on its website, but residents can log in to your account online and see service alerts for your area by clicking the bell-shaped icon at the top of the screen. The city of Elgin, which is served by Waste Management, has announced that “Waste Management has determined that all collections will be delayed by one day this week due to conditions.”

MDC Environmental Services, which holds contracts for Gilberts and Huntley, says it will be closed today (Monday) due to the storm, and garbage collection will be one day late this week.
