The Elgin Police Department reports on its Facebook page that a 44-year-old Elgin man died from injuries sustained Saturday, Jan. 5, when he was struck by an SUV on Larkin Avenue. Two days earlier, a Central Middle School 13-year-old was killed Thursday, Jan. 3, after she was hit by a pickup truck on South Randall Road.

According to police and media reports, Alexis M. “Lexi” Horton, 13, died after she was struck shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday by a 2004 Ford pickup traveling south as she was attempting to cross the street in the 200 block of South Randall Road.

The juvenile victim, later identified as Horton, was transported to an area hospital and succumbed to the injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not cited at this time and the investigation will continue.

The pedestrian — identified by the Kane County Coroner’s Office today (Monday, Jan. 7) as Edward Milosz, 44, of Elgin — was transported to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver was not injured, and no arrest or citations have been issued at this time, police said. The Elgin Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate the crash.
