IDOT: Entrance Ramp Construction Begins at Randall Road, US 20
The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that construction of an entrance ramp from northbound Randall Road to eastbound U.S. 20 in Elgin will require intermittent lane closures beginning June 3.
The project consists of resurfacing the shoulder of eastbound U.S. 20, adding rumble strips, installing temporary signals, performing drainage improvements and building a retaining wall for the new ramp, as well as constructing a cul-de-sac on Weld Road and new pavement for the ramp.
The work is expected to be complete by July 2020.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
