Campton Hills Seeks Citizen Input on Recreational Cannabis

The village of Campton Hills is seeking citizen input on regulations for recreational cannabis businesses within the community.

According to the village’s e-newsletter, the Village Board is currently considering regulations in preparation for the statewide legalization of marijuana, which goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2020.

Village officials say regulations will affect both the potential to grow cannabis product in the village and/or the retail sale of cannabis for recreational use.

Before the Village Board takes final action on this measure, it is requesting feedback from the community in regards to how the village should proceed.

The Illinois Municipal League has also developed a factsheet regarding Adult-Use Cannabis. The fact sheet discusses the regulations available for Illinois municipalities.

The Village Board has already had two meetings where this topic has been discussed. The next scheduled discussion of the topic will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.

The Village Board is requesting feedback from residents about how the village should regulate adult-use recreational cannabis. If you have thoughts on these please contact the village via email to rsearl@villagofcamptonhills.org, by phone at 630-584-5700, or by mail to the Village Manager’s Office, 40W270 LaFox Road, Suite B, Campton Hills, 60175-7624
