POW! Lovely Nancy Is Reaching Out For Her Forever Family

It’s not easy making changes in life, whether they’re made due to circumstances beyond your control or you make the decision yourself to move your life forward. Either way, the changes we go through affect our environment and can put a lot of stress on our four-footed furry companions.
Nancy
Animal psyches can be extremely fragile as they pick up on our non-verbal clues that all is not right within their once-safe kingdom. The slightest modification in a home or family can send a dog or cat into a fight or flight fearful state of being. Some may hide or act out at the litter box. Others may escape the fenced-in yard at the first opportunity, when it had, “never run away from the home before!”
So many of these behaviors can be stemmed if the pet parent is willing to work with the animal, letting it know that it is, indeed, a part of the forever family and any changes will include them as well, allowing them to once again feel safe and secure.
Unfortunately, a pet owner may not believe that they are up to putting in so much energy into assuring their four-legged friend adjusts to whatever changes are coming down the pike. And so it’s off to the nearest shelter or animal control facility for the stressed out, unhappy, dog or cat.
After eight years, Nancy has been returned to KCAC due to a number of changes in her owner’s familial structure. An 8-year-old, beautiful calico Domestic Longhair, Nancy can appear to be a little shy at first, hiding from anyone new who may enter the cat room. Within moments, however, she is up on the ledge begging to be petted, reaching for the person with her declawed front paws.
Nancy is on a weight-reduction diet due to her rather large size and will need her new owners to continue this treatment. She has difficulty grooming herself, especially in the back areas, so she will need daily grooming to help her maintain her long hair.
Despite the difficult time she has had, she remains friendly and gets along well with other cats, although she sometimes prefers to stay to herself.
Isn’t it time for no-nonsense Nancy to finally spend her days in a home that will treat her as part of the family?

Dee
Congratulations to Dee, the too-cute little 11-week-old white and gray Domestic shorthair that spends her days getting into and out of everything.
Her new family couldn’t resist the pink nose and playful surprise attacks from under the chair. Can’t wait to see what she looks like when she’s all grown up!
How to Adopt
All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.
The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control
It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:
- Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
- Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
- Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
- Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
- Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
