POW! Beautiful Kirk Is One Great Big Cat

You may not even know he’s in the room at all.
He would be a hard cat to miss if he were out and about in the room, but this very shy, quiet front-pawed declawed, 6-year-old Domestic shorthair is able to find a corner so far from the hustle and bustle of a busy office that he becomes invisible.
Kirk
His name is Kirk and he was owner-surrendered due to a change in the familial situation. Of course, Kirk doesn’t know that.
All he knows is his once safe and secure home is no more, and he now spends his days in a cage in a shelter hearing the calls of the other animals. His large size a remnant of getting spoiled with treats by his former owner, never getting the exercise or play time he should have had.
At KCAC, Kirk is on a diet, working on losing weight. He’s getting petted as often as we can crouch down under the desk to get to him and we all have our fingers crossed that he will find a family that will keep up his weight-loss program.
If that same family allows Kirk to be the only pet in the home, then he will be able to get comfortable with his surroundings, work on his physical health and retain his feline superiority.

S’mores
Congratulations to S’mores, the Lop-Holland rabbit that was owner-surrendered. His long ears and adorable face endeared him to his new forever family and we couldn’t be hoppier — uh, we mean happier.
How to Adopt
All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.
The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control
It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:
- Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
- Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
- Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
- Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
- Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
