Boy, time flies fast!
Here we are right before Thanksgiving and moving into the biggest and best holiday of them all — Christmas!
Ellie
And here is Ellie, over 100 days at the KCAC shelter, finally ready to find her new home for the holidays! Why has it taken so long, you may ask?
Well, Ellie, this beautiful 3-year-old gray and white Domestic Shorthair was found to have a corneal ulcer in her right eye that needed treatment. KCAC’s county vet has been treating her since the infection was first noticed, and she is definitely on the mend.
Since we really want her to find her forever family as soon as she can so she is home for part of the holidays and because her treatments will need to continue for a while even after she is adopted, her adoption fee has been cut in half to $50. We want to make sure that the remainder of her fee is used for any continued care to her eye that she might need.
Of all the cats up for adoption, Ellie is perhaps the most special of them all. She has endured so very much in order to present herself as ready for a forever home even starting out as a stray before coming to KCAC.
If the eyes are the window to the soul, then Ellie’s soul is one of a survivor that has maintained her positive outlook toward the world. Sweet, cuddly, Ellie is purring her hopes for a new family and a healthy life for Christmas!

Nancy
Ike
Congratulations to Ike, a 16-week-old gray and black tiger-striped Domestic Shorthair that was born at KCAC along with his seven brothers and sisters. The staff named the entire bunch, The Candy Crew.
Each kitten was given the moniker of a favorite type of candy and Ike took on the second half of that fruit-flavored snack, Mike & Ike, originally made in 1940 by a company called Just Born. There’s definitely some irony going on here, don’t ya think?
Evidently, Ike was too cute for his forever family to pass up, so he is sharing all of his sweetness and kitten-ish personality with his new people. Have a wonderful holiday, Ike!
Huge congratulations are in order for Nancy, a beautiful calico that was returned to KCAC after eight years. She spent a lot of time in the cat room by herself, hiding, but not anymore! She is now a registered family member of her new forever home.
The cycle is complete and all of us here at KCAC couldn’t be happier with this purr-fect ending! Keep up the weight loss, Nancy! You finally do belong!
How to Adopt
All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.
The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control
It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:
- Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
- Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
- Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
- Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
- Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
