Once upon a time in a land called Montgomery, a scared little pup named Bub ran as a stray. The nights were cold, the days were lonely until he was picked up by a nice officer from the police department.
Bub
No home, no owner, no place to call his own, Bub, a 5-year-old smooth-coated Chihuahua, came to KCAC a little shy at first, but very soon he was licking the chin of the person holding him as he burrowed his head into the person’s shoulder.
The little guy enjoys getting picked up and carried around like the “Diva dog” he always knew he could be. Other dogs don’t seem to bother him. In fact, he seems genuinely happy to be around them.
He is a little head shy, so working with him toward allowing him to let you put on his harness and/or leash will help him to adjust into a great four-legged companion.
If you are looking for the sweetest, nicest, littlest 10-pound dog in a tiny compact package, then Bub is happily waiting for you!

POW! Absolutely Adorable Hank Is An Australian Cattle Dog With a Heart of Gold
Congratulations to Hank, our 1-year-old pit bull mix who found his forever home after waiting patiently for more than five months.
It was hard to see you go, big guy, but we all are keeping you in our thoughts, prayers and hearts. You were with us for so long and yet you never complained. When people came to see our adoptable dogs, you were the last one they wanted to see. You were skipped over more than you should have been, but you always greeted every potential adopter with a happy tail wag and a smile.
It’s your turn this time, big fella! Happy Holidays!
How to Adopt
All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.
The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control
It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:
- Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
- Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
- Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
- Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
- Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
