The world can be a scary place for a little female kitten wandering about looking for a place to rest. It’s full of noisy, large humans that take up a lot of space, walk and drive as though they’re in a race to the finish line and rarely know where they’re actually headed.

Sarabi

Enter into this madness a 4-month-old brown and black-striped baby kitten found as a stray outside of an Olive Garden. Maybe this little feline has a penchant for Italian food or maybe she knows she has more of a chance to be found if she stays close to where those very tall humans congregate.

And so it was that Sarabi, a brown tabby Domestic Shorthair who is now 7-months-old was brought to KCAC in the back of a squad car all the way to Geneva. At first she seemed a little hesitant to approach people, too scared, too shy to ask even for a petting session. Hiding under cabinets or in between cubicles or any place, actually, that could conceal a very scared, small stray kitten was where you would find Sarabi.

Eventually, she ventured out away from her safe places and found her way onto someone’s lap where she was perfectly content to stay until she was given a nice box in which to settle down in with a comfy towel or two.

In no time at all, Sarabi has grown into a sweet, felinie-greeter that runs up to anyone that comes into the shelter office. Her scared days are behind her now, as she can’t wait to climb into someone’s lap to get her hugs, kisses and pets. Give her time to get to know another cat and she’s all about having a new friend to wrestle and play with in the most kitten of ways.

Sarabi’s days of living life as a stray are finally over.

She’s looking for a family that will give her the forever love and compassion she deserves.

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

  • Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
  • Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
  • Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
  • Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
  • Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
