Prior to Jan. 1, using word “traffic” in conjunction with “cannabis” had an entirely different meaning.

As of today (Jan. 2, 2020), the marijuana traffic of biggest concern to North Aurora police might be the lines of cars waiting to get into the cannabis dispensary on IL Route 31.

Verilife, 161 S. Lincolnway, Suite 301, in North Aurora, is a medical marijuana facility that started selling adult-use pot at 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

The North Aurora Police Department issued a Nixle alert Wednesday, asking drivers to avoid IL Route 31 in the area of Airport Road.

“We’re expecting heavy traffic in the area for the first several days,” officials said.

North Aurora officers will be on scene helping to manage traffic, and the dispensary will have people present to help direct people.

The North Aurora facility is among the first in Kane County to be approved by the state of Illinois for adult use.
