April 26 to May 3 is National Infant Immunization Week, and the Kane County Health Department is doing everything it can to remind parents that now is the time to pay attention to immunization that can save your child’s life.

Vaccines help prevent infectious diseases and save lives and are responsible for the control of many infectious diseases that were once common in this country, including polio, measles, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough, rubella (German measles), mumps, tetanus, and the flu.

Vaccine-preventable diseases have a costly impact, resulting in doctor’s visits, hospitalizations, and premature deaths. Sick children can also cause parents to lose time from work.
