New owners of the Fishermen’s Inn in Elburn will reopen the doors of the historic and newly renovated restaurant for a communitywide open house from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 7.

After being closed from 2009 until late 2012, Fishermen’s Inn was purchased by Mark and Patti Southern. Shortly after, extensive renovation work began on both the grounds and the facility. Renovations are now complete, according to a press release issued Friday.

The restaurant has been among the best and most-loved in Kane County, the site of many weddings, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries and special events for more than 50 years.

“Nestled on 20 acres of natural beauty, Fishermen’s Inn is once again a top-notch facility, rich with history yet renovated with today’s lifestyle events in mind,” the release says. “No detail has been overlooked in re-creating this stunning venue with its rustic yet sophisticated elegance. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event or private affair you might be planning, Fishermen’s Inn is truly a one of a kind, unique and memorable venue.”

Several weddings already have been booked this spring, summer and fall and owners will be introducing “Signature Events,” a series of special events that include wine tastings, holiday brunch, farm-to-table gatherings and seafood nights.

At the June 7 open house, visitors can enjoy a glass of ice-cold lemonade, iced tea or a cup of coffee, stroll the paver walkways throughout the grounds and visit the waterfall area that features spring-fed koi and trout ponds. For those who are interested in a little something more, there will be food available for purchase until 8 p.m. and a cash bar available until 11 p.m.
