Lane Closures on McGough Road Start Monday
Do not pass McGough, do not collect $200.
That might be the way Rich “Uncle” Pennybags would report the road-paving work that starts Monday on McGough Road between Peplow Road and IL Route 64.
Milling and paving on McGough Road starts May 12, with construction hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day for about the next two weeks, weather permitting.
The resurfacing process will include:
- Removal of 1 ½” of existing pavement to allow for the new surface course to be placed
- Placement of 2 ¼” of an asphalt layer over an oil application to provide a new smooth riding surface
Temporary daily lane closures Monday through Saturday will be required to accomplish this work. The Kane County Division of Transportation is asking drivers to watch for “fresh oil” signs and flaggers and reduce speed while traveling through the construction zone.
Motorists should expect delays and increased travel times during the resurfacing process, and are advised to consider alternate routes during this work.
