If you like to see joy on kids’ faces — and the faces of more than a few adults, too— take a drive Saturday to 225 S. Water Street, South Elgin. For more photos, click here.

At around noon Saturday, May 10, South Elgin Parks and Recreation and the FUNdation will hold a groundbreaking for the SEBA Park — a one-of-a-kind, fully-accessible facility for individuals of all abilities. The park was made possible in large part by a $400,000 grant SEPR received from the state of Illinois that allowed us to receive a matching donation from the Hoffer Foundation.

South Elgin Parks and Recreation will also be holding a park dedication for Jim Hansen Park on Saturday, May 10. The dedication will be held during South Elgin Little League’s official opening day at 2 p.m. at the corner of Concord Avenue and Valley Forge Avenue. Jim Hansen Park, formerly Concord Park, is being dedicated to former Village President, Jim Hansen, after his passing in November 2013.
