When I started as a Kane County community outreach coordinator on March 3, one of the first things I wanted to do was sit down with various department heads and office-holders to learn what they do.

One thing I found out along the way is that there’s plenty of them, and finding their various offices isn’t quite as easy as one might think.

There are a couple of good website resources for finding them, though.

One of the easiest ways to find the office you’re looking for is simply to look in Google or your favorite search engine. But on the Kane County website, you can visit the “Kane County Offices and Departments” page, then click on the link to the department of interest to you.

One that’s maybe not so well known but lists all the addresses on one page is the PDF of the 2013 Government Guide, which you can find on the Kane County Clerk’s web page. (The link to the guide is on the left rail of the clerk’s page.) Once you click on the PDF of the Government Guide, you’ve got to scroll to Page 55 of the PDF. That sounds complicated, but it’s really not that hard.

For your convenience, however, we’ve copied the text of Page 55 below.

The really excellent place to find Kane County offices and departments is under the “Maps” heading, in that black bar on the top of most (but not all) Kane County website page.

Among the maps are:

• Kane County Facilities and Directions — Google Maps
• Kane County Government Center Campus

The former (Kane County Facilities and Directions — Google Maps) organizes the office-location information by community and gives you an option to get directions. That’s really the creme de la creme. The latter (Kane County Government Center Campus), obviously, gives you a really cool map of the Government Center at 719 Batavia, Ave.
