Autistic Child Found After Being Reported Missing Saturday in Big Rock
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office reported the good news at around 10 p.m. Saturday that an autistic 16-year-old, reported missing in the Big Rock area, had been found.
Kane County sent out a missing-persons alert on the Citizen Observer platform shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday, saying deputies were notified that Andrew Thompson was missing from his residence on Timberview Drive in the village of Big Rock.
“Andrew left on his push scooter and was last seen travelling south on Little Rock Road near Vilmin Road at approximately 5:30 p.m.” the initial release said. “It is believed he may be attempting to go to a restaurant in the town of Plano. Anyone seeing Andrew should call 911.”
According to a Chicago Tribune report, family members initially thought Thompson might have been trying to get to Lars Restaurant in Plano, where the family sometimes goes to eat. He had been wearing a railroad engineer hat, and white shorts on a silver chrome Razor scooter when he was reported missing.
