ComEd was recently on hand to present a check in the amount of $50,243.60 to Mooseheart Child City & Schools in recognition of the energy efficiency projects implemented on their beautiful campus.

The energy efficiency measures undertaken by Mooseheart included the addition of new fluorescent lighting fixtures, new water source heat pumps, variable speed drives on the condenser water pumps and a new energy management system.  Cumulatively, the measures will result in a reduction of nearly 440,000 kilowatts of energy usage and a cost savings for Moosehead of approximately $32,500.

Since ComEd launched the Smart Ideas energy efficiency program in 2008, the program has resulted in over 7 million megawatt hours of energy savings.  This is equivalent to the energy required to power nearly 760,000 homes for one year.
