Plato and Rippberger/Russell Road Paving Starts Week of June 23
Milling and paving on Plato Road and Rippberger/Russell roads in the north-center portion of Kane County will begin the week of June 23, 2014, a Kane County Division of Transportation press release says.
Construction work hours will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day for two weeks, weather permitting.
The Plato Road work will run from IL Route 47 to Muirhead Road.
Rippberger/Russell road work goes from Plato Road to Plank Road.
The resurfacing process will include:
- Removal of 1 1⁄2 inches of existing pavement to allow for the new surface course to be placed.
- Placement of 2 1⁄4 inches of an asphalt layer over an oil application to provide a new, smooth surface.
Drivers should expect temporary daily lane closures Monday through Saturday. As always, KDOT asks drivers to watch for fresh oil signs, flaggers and to reduce speed while traveling through construction zones. Motorists should expect delays and increased travel times during the resurfacing process, and are advised to consider alternate routes during this work.
