Assessment Changes for Campton, Geneva Townships Publish Tuesday

Assessment changes for Campton Township and Geneva Township will be published Tuesday, July 29, in the Kane County Chronicle and electronically on the Kane County Supervisor of Assessments webpage.

After all revisions and corrections by the township assessor are applied, an equalization factor  is calculated. Each non-farm property in Campton Township was equalized with a factor of 0.9835, and each non-farm property in Geneva Township was equalized with a factor of 1.0000.

To obtain assessment information about a property in Campton and Geneva townships, you should check the Campton Township Assessor’s website and Geneva Township Assessor’s website. For other townships in Kane County, you can find a full directory of township assessors’ websites here.

For Campton Township and Geneva Township folks, with the July 29 publication, the clock starts ticking regarding the time you have to formally protest the assessed value of your property. Residents from each township get 30 days from the publication date to file a complaint. Campton and Geneva township complaints must be filed by Aug. 28. No complaint for property in these townships can be accepted after that date.

The following townships are open for filing assessment complaints, and the following deadlines have been established for filing an assessment complaint:

  • Big Rock: Aug. 1
  • Virgil: Aug. 4
  • Dundee: Aug. 7
  • Rutland: Aug. 11
  • Sugar Grove: Aug. 14
  • Blackberry: Aug. 18
  • St. Charles: Aug. 25
  • Campton:  Aug. 28
  • Geneva: Aug. 28
Again, no complaint for property in these townships can be accepted after these dates.
The final filing deadline for property in Hampshire Township has passed; by state law, the Board of Review can no longer accept assessment complaints from this township.
Still to come are assessment changes for Burlington, Plato, Elgin, Kaneville, Batavia and Aurora townships. No filing deadline has been established for these townships.
