Aurora’s Veterans Advisory Board Launches Fund, Facebook Page
In an effort to better address the needs of local veterans, the Aurora Veterans Advisory Council announced two new initiatives this week.
A new fund established at the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley will help fund the activities of the Advisory Council, including annual events like the Veterans Resource Fair. The fund will also support direct services including housing, medical and other needs, to veterans in the Aurora area.
The Advisory Council has also adopted a new platform for connecting with veterans, their families, and supporters with its new Facebook page. The page includes information of the activities of the Veterans Advisory Council, as well as information on VA programs, local job fairs, and other events and information of interest to Aurora-area veterans. “Like” the page at www.facebook.com/CityofAuroraVeteransAdvisoryCouncil.
The Aurora Veterans Advisory Council was created to address the most pressing issues affecting local military personnel. The council advocates for veterans of all generations and conflicts, aiding in organizing all veteran-related events including the Veterans Day Parade and an annual military recognition dinner. The Advisory Council includes eight veterans in good standing with an active veteran’s organization, five non-affiliated veterans and two family members of veterans representing all branches of the Armed Forces.
