Windmill City Festival Offers Free Family Fun
July 10, 11, 12 & 13, 2014
Windmill City Festival has long been a staple of the community and has become a tradition for many families. Are you ready to create lasting memories and enjoy countless activities over the course of two and a half days? Then come stop by the carnival, compete in a 5k, participate in the pet parade, and dive in to an ice cream eating contest. Every member of the family is sure to find a new favorite activity! This year’s festival will be held Thursday, July 10 through Sunday, July 13 at the Riverwalk in downtown Batavia. Admission is free.
Mark your calendar and be sure to drop by the downtown area to enjoy Batavia’s biggest event of the summer! The Windmill City Festival Committee includes representatives from the Batavia Park District, Batavia Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Batavia.

You will be singing, cheering, dancing, and laughing so hard you’ll be doubled over gasping for breath. It’s an experience unlike any other that will leave you amazed and begging for more. |
7:00 pm | Windmill Whirl – 5K Race – Come give it a whirl on the Fox River Trail with this certified course! This race provides chip-timing and awards will be given to the 3 overall males and females and the top 3 in each age division. Sorry, strollers, dogs and bicycles are not allowed. Children 8 and under receive a $10 discount. Registrations processed online before June 25th are guaranteed a shirt. Registration/Check-in for chip pickup will be on the south side of the government center. T-Shirt and bag pickup will occur AFTER the race. Chip-timing and results will be provided by Real Timing, Inc. Due to the chipped timing NO on-site registration will be accepted after 6:30 PM. 9:00 – 11:00 pm | Arra – One of the best and largest drawing classic rock cover bands in the Chicagoland area for the past 2 decades. Performing the biggest hits by the biggest bands of all times with precision and excellence is the secret to their success. Their unparalleled vocal harmonies and incredible musicianship is also what has brought them to being one of the most sought after club and festival bands in the Chicago area markets. Arra has performed with some of the biggest bands and performers of all time. Kansas, 38 Special, Survivor, Rare Earth, The Ides of March, Steppenwolf, Paul Rodgers from Bad Company and Dennis DeYoung from Styx are just a few of the National acts that Arra has shared the stage with throughout the years. Arra was recently voted best classic rock band (3) years in a row in a major local music publication. |

Each contestant will get 10 pitches to try for points per round. Each participant must supply a pitcher. All bats and balls will be provided. Prizes will be provided for the winners. FREE! 1:00 – 6:00 pm | Golf Challenge (Ages 10+) – 5 balls for $5! Take your shot at chipping a hole-in-one on a green floating in the Depot Museum Pond and win exciting prizes for landing on the green and for making a hole-in-one. Batavia Teen Center Power Hour will be held from 5-6:00 pm; 6 balls for $5 and ALL proceeds within this hour benefit the Batavia Teen Center! Location: Depot Pond |

3:00 – 5:00 pm | Live Band Karaoke – Anyone who remembers rocking out into their mom’s microphone/hairbrush in front of the bathroom mirror when they were little knows a thing or two about working hard on their stage presence in private. Now that you’re all grown up, it’s time to take your passions out in to the open. 6:00 pm | Bags Tournament – The Batavia Parks Foundation is hosting a “Toss for a Cause” bags tournament for participants 14 years and older on Saturday, July 10 at 6:00 pm during Windmill City Festival. Two-person teams will play a minimum of three games and cash prizes will go to the top two teams. Register by calling 630-879-5235. Location: Turnaround parking lot |
6:00 – 8:00 pm | Gallery – Five piece Rock & Roll band out of Geneva, Illinois. The band formed in 2006 and they play a wide variety of classic rock songs, primarily from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, covering music by AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy, Jethro Tull, Foreigner, Joe Satriani, The Who, Poison, Molly Hatchet, Bad Company, Kiss, Van Halen and more. Their goal is to provide a classic rock experience unlike any other in the area. |
9:00 – 11:00 pm | Modern Day Romeos – No matter where that stage is, MDR rocks the crowd into a frenzy. With covers ranging from Black Betty, Honky Tonk Woman, Centerfold, Santeria and Dancing with Myself / Sedated medley the party gets kicking. 1:15 pm | Ice Cream Eating Contest – We’ll all scream for ice cream at this popular competition! Individuals will be split up into the following age groups: 6 and younger, 7-11, 12-17 and 18 and up. The top three participants who eat the ice cream the fastest will win! Registration will begin in the U-shaped driveway at 1:15 pm. Presented by Foltos Tonsorial Parlor and the Batavia Creamery. |
3:00 pm | Fire Hose Challenge –Compete in this exciting challenge to send a ball across the opposing team’s line using fire hoses! Participants must be at least 5 years old to participate. Location: Turnabout Parking Lot |
4:00 – 6:00 pm | Hillbilly Rock Stars – Chicago’s very own country super group, they specialize in covering the latest hits in country music including some of everyone’s classic favorites. This band is always true to the original recording, so they always gotcha covered. The band has always had one thing in common, the desire to perform a show of great radio friendly country music covers that will always promote a good time. Country Music fans love the connection they have with the audience. Every show is guaranteed Good time’s…Hillbilly style! A live performance by the Hillbillyz is an experience y’all won’t soon forget. Rockin top hits week after week mixing up your favorite top 40 country rockin’ hits.
