International Crown Golf Tournament Coming to Rich Harvest Farms in 2016
The best teams of women’s golfers in the world will debut a new, biennial global event called the International Crown on July 21-27, 2014, at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, MD.
And in 2016, the International Crown comes here — to Sugar Grove in Kane County, IL.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association has created a unique event that’s a little bit like the World Cup of golf. It will feature teams from eight countries battling for the right to be “Crowned” the world’s best golf nation. Showcasing the strength of Golf’s Global Tour, this even-year tournament will feature a four-day, match-play format.
Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen said he knows Kane County residents are “extremely excited” that the International Crown is coming to Rich Harvest Farms.
“This event will have significant impact on the surrounding hotels, restaurants and transportation services, as it will bring people from all over the Chicago area and the world to Sugar Grove and the surrounding communities,” he said.
Every two years, the best women’s golfers in the world will be chosen by their world rankings to join their country’s team.
“Thirty-two players, eight countries, four days, one crown,” says the announcer on the International Crown promo video, which is embedded here. “So … who is the best golfing country in the world?”
